Volunteer Service Opportunities
Our Community Warming Center provides a warm, dry sleep space and a hot meal to those in need. Our Warming Center is open any night temperatures are below 38 degrees. Anyone is welcome and provided with resources to obtain stable housing and other community services.
The Warming Center of MHC is a project of the West Piedmont Better Housing Coalition.
Please carefully review the information on this website to answer any immediate questions you may have.
We appreciate your interest in the Warming Center and support of this new concept in our community.
The Warming Center is a nighttime operation. Any communications, including messages, calls, and emails, during the day may not be responded to until the following evening. If you have a true emergency, please contact local Emergency Services or dial 911.

Volunteer Service Opportunities
- Bring a Hot Meal for Guests: Drop off 6-6:30 p.m.
- Help Clean the Center: Saturdays, 9 a.m.
- Donate Supplies
- Volunteer (Evening Shift): Welcome Guests from 7-9 p.m.
- Volunteer (Overnight Shift): 9 p.m. until 8 a.m.
- Support Financially: Please mail your donation to PO Box 3449, Martinsville, VA 24115

Due to staffing constraints, we are not able to take donations at The Warming Center. Please see our Donations page for more information on drop-off locations, as well as a list of items needed.
We are sincerely appreciative of the community support we receive. Please understand that we cannot respond to every social media question, post, or request, which includes Facebook Messenger, as well as texts to The Warming Center number.
